Service History

It is recorded that Albert Nicholls was a Sergeant with the Somerset Light Infantry, 2nd Battalion, in Egypt when he was taken to hospital with dysentery, which was the cause of death.

Albert A Nicholls is listed among those in the Commonwealth War Graves record of the cemetery in Alexandria, and the record states that he was the son of Frederick Nicholls of Dawlish.

Albert married Frances Ethel Lilian Lang in Newton Abbot district, in the third quarter of 1919, shortly before his death. His Death Grant and War Gratuity were paid to his widow, Frances (1899- ).Her address was given as Eglantine, Caterham, Surrey. After Albert's death she married again to James Chatterton at Caterham, St Mary on 22 February 1922
